Constitution Day
8 December 2026 — A scroll and quill drift by – even laws have their own starry order!
On 8 December Romania marks Constitution Day. The date recalls 8 December 1991, when the country's current Constitution was approved in a national referendum after being adopted by the Constituent Assembly. The fundamental law was drawn up after the fall of the communist regime in 1989 and established Romania as a democratic state under the rule of law, with separation of powers and protection of fundamental rights. In 2003 the text was amended in connection with accession to NATO and the European Union, and the revision was confirmed by referendum. The day is marked with official speeches and cultural events. There is no direct link to the sky or astronomical calendar: the date is fixed, so on Astronativa a symbolic scroll glides among the stars as a reminder that laws are a shared human creation.
Flying across the sky: An ethereal, bluish-silver figure made of luminous dots and thin lines, like a constellation: an unrolled scroll drifting across the night sky, with a graceful quill beside it that leaves a glittering trail of tiny stars as it moves
