World Health Day
7 April 2026 — Hop, hop! This heart is warming up – even among the stars!
World Health Day is observed every year on 7 April. It marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, whose constitution came into force on 7 April 1948. The first World Health Assembly in 1948 decided that the day should be celebrated annually, and the first observance took place in 1950. Each year WHO chooses a theme that draws attention to an important health topic, such as mental health, clean air or access to health care. Around the world, people organize free check-ups, sports events, talks and campaigns for vaccination and healthy living. It is one of WHO's official global health campaigns, alongside World No Tobacco Day, World Blood Donor Day and others. The date is fixed in the calendar and does not depend on moon phases or solstices, but it is a nice reason to step outside and look up at the spring sky – movement and fresh air are part of good health.
Flying across the sky: An ethereal, bluish-silver figure made of luminous dots and thin connecting lines, like a moving constellation: a smiling heart-shaped star pattern wearing little sneakers, stretching and jogging across the night sky
