Menton Lemon Festival

14 February 2026 · movable holiday — A lemon parade in the sky! I pass by with a scent of citrus and sun.

The Lemon Festival (Fête du citron) takes place every year in Menton, a small town on the French Riviera close to the Italian border. The town is known for its mild winters and its lemon growing. In late February and early March, when much of Europe is still cold, Menton fills with yellow and orange. The main attractions are huge sculptures made of lemons and oranges, built around a chosen theme and displayed in gardens in the town centre. There are also parades of decorated floats that show how inventively citrus fruit can be used. The festival's roots go back to the late 1920s, and the name „Fête du citron“ has been used since the 1930s. The festival falls at the end of winter, when the days are growing noticeably longer. The exact dates and the theme are announced each year, so it is best to check the town's official website.

Flying across the sky: An ethereal, bluish-silver star figure made of bright dots and fine lines, like a constellation, shaped as a cheerful round fruit-bodied character with small citrus-like clusters of stars floating along beside it as in a parade
