Day of the Postman and Postal Worker
12 November 2026 — A letter, a letter, who is this letter for? The postman rides past the stars!
In Mexico, 12 November is dedicated to postal workers, who bring letters, parcels and news to people's doors every day. It is a popular observance rather than an official public holiday, marked with thanks to those who work in the postal service. The day reminds us how much the mail has mattered: before the internet, the postman linked families separated by great distances, and today he still delivers documents, purchases and greetings. In Mexican custom, people may greet their letter carrier on this day with a kind word or a small token of appreciation. The link to the sky lies in the very idea of a message travelling far: since ancient times people have steered by the stars to carry news across deserts and seas. That is why on Astronativa a postman on a bicycle rides across the sky, with envelopes flying from his bag like birds.
