International Nurses Day
12 May 2026 — Thank you to the hands that heal and comfort.
The International Council of Nurses marks 12 May as International Nurses Day — the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. She walked among the wounded at night with a lamp in her hand, which is why the lamp is the symbol of the profession. The day is a thank-you to the nurses who stay closest to the patient — day and night.
Flying across the sky: An ethereal glowing oil lamp of starlight, like Florence Nightingale's lamp, floating gently across the night sky
