Grandparents' Day
28 August 2026 — Cuddle up with grandma and grandpa – the warmest place is with them!
In Mexico, grandparents are honored on 28 August – Día del Abuelo, also called Día de los Abuelos. The day belongs to a wider family-centered culture in which several generations are often close and spend much time together. Grandchildren call or visit their older relatives, bring flowers, gifts or drawings, share a family meal and listen to their stories. Old recipes, songs and memories are passed along, and so traditions travel from one generation to the next. The date is fixed and does not follow a lunar calendar. At this time of year the summer sky of the Northern Hemisphere is still rich in stars, and the Milky Way is easy to see far from city lights. That is why our character is a cozy rocking chair with a blanket and cocoa – a symbol of calm evenings at grandma and grandpa's, when time seems to slow down.
Flying across the sky: An ethereal, bluish-silver figure made of luminous dots and thin lines, like a constellation: a rocking chair gently swaying, a knitted blanket draped over it and a steaming cup of cocoa beside it, with a soft trail of tiny stars behind
