White Night (Nuit Blanche)
6 June 2026 · movable holiday — Don't go to bed! Tonight, art glows on every street.
Nuit Blanche, or White Night, is an all-night festival of contemporary art held in Paris since 2002. The idea is to turn the city into a vast open-air gallery: installations, light shows, video and music fill streets, squares, parks and museums. Entry is free, and people wander from one work to the next almost until dawn. The name echoes the French expression for a sleepless night. Similar events have since appeared in other cities around the world. The festival has no religious character. Its date moves from year to year: for many years it was held on the first Saturday of October, but since 2023 it has taken place on a Saturday in early June – around the shortest nights of the year, so the celebration runs until the first light of dawn. The exact date and programme are announced each year by the organisers.
Flying across the sky: An ethereal, bluish-silver figure made of luminous dots and fine lines, like a constellation: a large round balloon-moon with a faint glowing outline, drifting slowly across the night sky
